It may be freezing outside, your post Christmas figure may leave little to be desired and your legs may be whiter than Nicole Kidman’s but, ready or not, the latest Spring/Summer collections have arrived and it's time to embrace them. Dolceguide.com separates the fabulous from the frumpy, ensuring that you step out in style come spring.

Flower Power: Chuck out those drab, knitted jumpers and immerse yourself in springtime florals. From floor sweeping gowns to knee length ensembles, floral prints dominated this season’s collections. Deep orange, lavender and rose were extremely popular among designers, but when it comes to florals, as long as the pattern isn’t too busy, any colour goes. Perfect for summer weddings and springtime soirees, florals are key to any fashionista’s wardrobe. Check out Louis Vuitton in Puerto Banus for a selection of floral skirts or alternatively head to Massimo Dutti for a cheaper alternative.

Stars and stripes: Chanel undertook a love affair with 1950’s America, dressing its models in a variety of star and striped creations. From its navy knee length dress – decorated in stars, much like the American flag itself – to the red and white striped jackets and numerous denim ensembles, Chanel took its love affair to new heights. The American Dream also caught the hearts and minds of Paul Smith, Tommy Hilfiger and Nicole Farhi. Head to Chanel in Puerto Banus or Tommy Hilfiger in La Cañada for your American fix.

Beautifully bold: Spring/Summer 2008 sees the return of bright colours. Gone are the Khaki pants and white peasant tops, colour is back and it is here to stay. Electric blue, warm pinks and bright yellows are key looks this season. Don’t miss your chance to get your hands on Dolce & Gabbana’s floaty, rose skirt, head to their Puerto Banus store now and get your name on the waiting list. Alternatively, browse through the multitude of juicy colours on offer in both Pull and Bear and Bershka.

Toga-licious: Swathed silks, one-shoulder gowns and bias cuts were showcased by numerous designers, most notably Frida Giannini at Gucci. Most designers kept colour to a minimum with grey, silver and white the most obvious choices. However, Gucci took things up a gear by experimenting with dusty pinks whilst Missouri sent temperatures through the roof with their electric turquoise toga. To make this look work for you, keep accessories to a minimum, focus on just one item. Gold jewellery works particularly well with this look. Gucci in Puerto Banus should be your first port of call.

Tribal: Tribal wear is a roaring success again this season. From animal prints to African inspired designs and chunky jewellery, the industry’s love for all things ethnic shows little sign of letting up. Wardrobe staples include a pair of brown leather sandals, a mustard yellow kaftan and as many prints as you can get your hands on. Accessorize with large sunglasses, wide belts, headscarves and, of course, a golden tan. Mango’s latest collection is crammed full of tribal prints and rich browns. Alternatively, Zara offers a great selection of tribal inspired eveningwear.

So there you have it ladies, no matter what your shape and size, there is a style to suit each and every one of you.  Happy shopping!
