The company’s aim is the same now as it was nearly 60 years ago; Nearly sixty years have passed since the first Jensen mattress saw the light of day, or to be more precise, since the company was founded on 14th February 1947. Those very first mattresses were made using traditional upholstery such as horsehair and cotton wadding.Of course, a lot has changed since then, however one crucial component remains – the very clear philosophy which dictates that people must be able to see and feel that what they have is a real Jensen bed. Sleep comfort has always been central to everything we do. Instead of just putting attractive fabric coverings on our beds, our development work has focused on what goes inside the bed and how it works with our bodies. We have a track record of introducing several new support materials and new construction designs. The zoned spring system, which is used by a number of manufacturers nowadays in a variety of forms, is just one example. Further optimising the zoned spring unit by using stretch fabrics throughout the sleeping surface is another. Jensen is now one of the leading bed manufacturers in Scandinavia. More than 300,000 beds are manufactured in Svelvik near the Oslo fjord, every year and many of our craftsmen have inherited their skills from their parents. There is devotion, pride, and knowledge, which no machine in the world can reproduce. Of course, this is why Jensen has become a name to be reckoned with both in the Nordic region and elsewhere in Europe. |
